Journal on Excellence in College Teaching The Journal on Excellence in College Teaching (ISSN 1052-4800) is a peer-reviewed journal published at Miami University by and for faculty at universities and two- and four-year colleges to increase student learning through effective teaching, interest in and enthusiasm for the profession of teaching, and communication among faculty about their classroom experiences. It answers Ernest Boyer's (1990) call for a forum to present the scholarship of teaching and learning. The Journal provides a scholarly, written forum for discussion by faculty about all areas affecting teaching and learning, and gives faculty the opportunity to share proven, innovative pedagogies and thoughtful, inspirational insights about teaching. Journal of Online Learning and Teaching (JOLT)

The MERLOT Journal of Online Learning and Teaching (JOLT) is a free, peer-reviewed, online publication addressing the scholarly use of multimedia resources in education. JOLT is published quarterly in March, June, September, and December. 

The Journal of Effective Teaching

The Journal of Effective Teaching, a peer reviewed electronic journal devoted to the discussion of teaching excellence in colleges and universities. The Journal of Effective Teaching will publish two regular issues per year and possibly a special issue on a current topic. The regular issues will contain articles in two broad Content Areas: effective teaching and the scholarship of teaching. We invite contributors to share their insights in pedagogy, innovations in teaching and learning, and classroom experiences in the form of a scholarly communication. We are particularly interested in topics addressed in the particular Content Areas described at this site, including empirical research on pedagogy, innovations in teaching and learning, and classroom experiences.

The International Journal of Instructional Technology & Distance Learning

Research and innovation in teaching and learning are primary topics for the Journal of Instructional Technology and Distance Learning. The Journal is a monthly, refereed journal initiated to facilitate communication and collaboration among researchers, innovators, designers, producers, practitioners, and administrators of education and training.

The Internet TESL Journal

For teachers of English as a Second Language, The Internet TESL Journal contains articles, research papers, lessons plans, classroom handouts, teaching ideas & link.

DE Oracle @ UMUC DE Oracle @ UMUC is an online ezine for faculty that is developed, promoted, and maintained by the Center for Support of Instruction (CSI). This bimonthly periodical provides numerous articles, useful tips and links to outside resources that are tailored to online course delivery, which is predominant at the University of Maryland University College.

Exchanges

The California State University's Institute for Teaching and Learning (ITL) created Exchanges, the CSU's on-line journal of teaching and learning. This online journal provides a forum for CSU faculty members to publish their scholarship of teaching projects, as well as their experiences, viewpoints, reviews, questions, and creative works related to teaching and learning. All submissions are reviewed by editors, and, in addition, all research articles are double-blind peer-reviewed.

Online Journal of Distance Learning Administration

The Online Journal of Distance Learning Administration is a peer-reviewed electronic journal offered free each quarter over the World Wide Web. The journal welcomes manuscripts based on original work of practitioners and researchers with specific focus or implications for the management of distance education programs.

First Monday

First Monday is one of the first free, openly accessible, peer–reviewed journals on the Internet, solely devoted to the Internet.

Park University Insight

InSight is a refereed journal published annually by CETL that features theoretical and empirically-based research articles, critical reflection pieces, case studies and classroom innovations relevant to teaching, learning and assessment. Unique from many discipline-based and teaching-oriented journals, InSight focuses each edition on a specific topic or theme relevant to current trends in higher education.

Journal for Computing Teachers

The Journal for Computing Teachers is a project of the ISTE's SIG for Computing Teachers (SIGCT). The Journal of Computing in Education is a K-12 oriented online periodical where the emphasis is on teaching about computing. Submissions are either editor reviewed or peer reviewed. The author decides which one.

 

Submission topics include but are not limited to:

  • Academic and research articles relating to the teaching of computing in K-12 education
  • Pedagogical articles describing and explaining the rationale for some teaching practice, approach, or lesson
  • Theoretical articles explaining or arguing particular principles or models of learning, teaching, curriculum development, content perspective-taking, etc.
  • Explanatory articles providing teachers with professional development information (e.g., understanding hardware and software, conceptual understanding, etc.)
  • Reports concerning computing (e.g., curriculum and policy recommendations)
Journal of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (JoSoTL) Founded in 2001, the Journal of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (JoSoTL) is a forum for the dissemination of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in higher education for the community of teacher-scholars. Our peer reviewed Journal promotes SoTL investigations that are theory-based and supported by evidence. JoSoTL's objective is to publish articles that promote effective practices in teaching and learning and add to the knowledge base.

The themes of the Journal reflect the breadth of interest in the pedagogy forum. The themes of articles include:
  • Data-driven studies: formal research projects with appropriate statistical analysis, formal hypotheses and their testing, etc. These studies are either with a quantitative or qualitative emphasis and authors should indicate the appropriate domain. Acceptable articles establish a research rigor that leads to significant new understanding in pedagogy.
  • Reflective essays: integrative evaluations of other work, essays that challenge current practice and encourage experimentation, novel conclusions or perspectives derived from prior work
  • Reviews: Literature reviews illuminating new relationships and understanding, meta-analysis, analytical and integrated reviews, etc.
  • Case studies: These studies illustrate SOTL and its applications, usually generalizable to a wide and multidisciplinary audience.
  • Comments and communications: Primarily, these are comments based on previously published JoSOTL articles, but can also include book reviews, critiques and evaluations of other published results in new contexts or dimensions
International Journal of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education The International Journal of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education provides a forum for higher education faculty, staff, administrators, researchers, and students who are interested in improving post-secondary instruction. The IJTLHE provides broad coverage of higher education pedagogy and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) across diverse content areas, educational institutions, and levels of instructional expertise. The specific emphasis of IJTLHE is the dissemination of knowledge for improving higher education pedagogy. Electronic distribution of IJTLHE maximizes global availability.
The Journal of Instruction Delivery Systems (JIDS)

The Journal of Instruction Delivery Systems (JIDS) is a quarterly publication sponsored by the Society for Applied Learning Technology® and published by the Learning Technology Institute® which is devoted to the issues, problems, and applications of instructional delivery systems in education, training, and job performance.
